Patricia Viel lives and works in the province of Santa Cruz since 2000, where she develops a versatile and intense artistic work that includes the production of her work, cultural management and independent curating of contemporary art. As a teacher - work that he develops in different fields - he was part of numerous art pedagogy projects.

Central to his work, which involves various techniques and formats, is the territory as a specific place of enunciation and the ways of inhabiting not as conclusive instances, but as opportunities for significant and significant experiences, in which the ephemeral as a concept takes on a prominent place. -binding metaphor. Starting from painting as a language, Viel gradually expands his expressive modalities, developing installations, interventions and actions and incorporating photography in his most recent productions, which transcends the documentary function linked to the recording of events, to become a dimension with its own thickness.

In her itinerary as an independent curator, she has developed a type of practice that seeks to go beyond the conception and realization of an exhibition, conceiving curatorship as a strategy to enhance the regional scene, by linking artists from different places in Patagonia.

After training as a National Professor of Painting, graduated from the National School of Fine Arts "Prilidiano Pueyrredón" (IUNA), she continued her training by conducting work analysis clinics with different artists and theorists. She belonged to the Mamemimomu collective and since 2015 has been part of the Magellanic Project, which she integrates with Malala Lekander, Marcela Botella and Bettina Muruzábal.

His work is part of the collections of the Castagnino-Macro Museum of Rosario (Santa Fe) and of the MAEM - Eduardo Minnicelli Art Museum - (Río Gallegos).

He is currently developing the project “Smoke Signals for Other Worlds”, to participate in the Project Room de Arte Actual Flacso residence in Quito that will be held in virtual mode as a result of the global Covid-19 Pandemic.
